Canals

Plantage
The popular Plantage district is in the eastern part of Amsterdam’s historic centre, and it is ideal for exploring by bike. This originally Jewish district has grand, peaceful streets, majestic buildings and is remarkably green. You can visit Artis Zoo, Hortus Botanica, and the Tropenmuseum (the ethnographic museum).
Zaanse Schans
The Zaanse Schans route takes you through the Twiske recreation park to the banks of the River Zaan, with the world-famous Zaanse Schans, which has eight windmills that are still in operation.
Amstel and Windmills
Escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and ride along the pretty River Amstel to Oudekerk aan de Amstel.
Relax and enjoy house boats, attractive houses, the mill where Rembrandt enjoyed drawing, and the polder landscape with Arena at the horizon.
Jewish Amsterdam
Discover the hidden treasures of Jewish Amsterdam and cycle along the traces of Jewish culture from past and present. Along the route you will come across striking buildings, beautiful synagogues, and impressive listed buildings.
Art on the Edge
There are more than one thousand sculptures and installations in the streets and parks of Amsterdam. From classic to modern, there is something for everyone. The “Art on the Edge” route allows you to discover some three hundred works of art on the street, in parks and in hidden places.

Provos
In May 2015, it was exactly 50 years ago that the Provo was founded. With playful demonstrations and ‘happenings’ the Provo tried to shake up society.
